Watch the video to learn more about an important international holiday
Many people around the world celebrated International Workers’ Day or May Day this week, but not everyone knows what it signifies.
Originally commemorated to celebrate spring, it became the day to note the success of 1880s labour movements around the world that secured eight-hour work days. In India — one of our countries of operation — workers celebrated the first May Day in 1923.
At Christian Children’s Fund of Canada, we work hard to keep children out of the workforce and keep them safe from harm and exploitation. This will also give them a chance to go to school and reach their full potential as educated adults.

About Christian Children’s Fund of Canada:
Christian Children’s Fund of Canada works globally to support children and youth who dream of a better world. For nearly 60 years, we’ve brought together diverse people and partnerships, driven by a common belief: education extends beyond the walls of a classroom and is the most powerful tool children can use to change their world. We focus on breaking barriers preventing access to inclusive, quality education for all, especially girls.
