The secretary-general asks leaders to work together toward positive change
Unity. That’s what António Guterres, secretary-general to the United Nations, is calling for this year, which is in line with Christian Children’s Fund of Canada’s mission to join with partners, children, families and communities to improve futures.
That global community is growing more important. “I am not issuing an appeal. I am issuing an alert — a red alert for our world,” said Guterres. “As we begin 2018, I call for unity. […] We can settle conflicts, overcome hatred and defend shared values. But we can only do that together,” he said.
This comes following a year of intensifying conflicts, global threats, climate change concerns and more.
“Narrow the gaps. Bridge the divides. Rebuild trust by bringing people together around common goals,” Guterres implored world leaders.

About Christian Children’s Fund of Canada:
Christian Children’s Fund of Canada works globally to support children and youth who dream of a better world. For nearly 60 years, we’ve brought together diverse people and partnerships, driven by a common belief: education extends beyond the walls of a classroom and is the most powerful tool children can use to change their world. We focus on breaking barriers preventing access to inclusive, quality education for all, especially girls.
