The importance of celebrating family

On this International Day of Families, take a moment to celebrate the power of the message

Day of Families

Although not widely known in Canada, the United Nations has set aside a day to devote to celebrating family, and this year they’re focusing on a theme of “Families and inclusive societies.

Why is this an important day? “The International Day of Families provides an opportunity to promote awareness of issues relating to families and to increase knowledge of the social, economic and demographic processes affecting them,” reads the United Nations’ notes on the day. “It has inspired a series of awareness-raising events, including national family days.”

Around the world, conferences and media highlight the day, which pays tribute to an important facet of society.

At Christian Children’s Fund of Canada, we believe in the power of family as the building blocks of a community, both of which encourage children and youth to gain the confidence to chase their dreams and create a future filled with possibility.

About Christian Children’s Fund of Canada:

Christian Children’s Fund of Canada works globally to support children and youth who dream of a better world. For nearly 60 years, we’ve brought together diverse people and partnerships, driven by a common belief: education extends beyond the walls of a classroom and is the most powerful tool children can use to change their world. We focus on breaking barriers preventing access to inclusive, quality education for all, especially girls.
